Prize money for the Kingaroy Sculpture Prize is the largest ever offered for a single event on the South Burnett arts calendar. Entries have been received from Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland, with an interesting variety of mediums and subject matters.
The inaugural prize includes an Open Award of AUD7,000 and a Local South Burnett Award of AUD2,000. Both awards are acquisitive, and there is an Encouragement Award of AUD1,000.
The Gallery has been hugely fortunate having Dr Rhyl Hinwood AM – regarded as Queensland’s most prominent living sculptor - to judge the inaugural event. Winners announced Saturday 4 March 2017 at 11.00am.
The exhibition of entries continues until 29 March at the Kingaroy Regional Art gallery.
