Twinstar Guesthouse and Observatory is a unique accommodation featuring an astronomical observatory near Girraween National Park. It is a great base for stargazers, astro-photographers and nature-lovers.
A free guided "Night Sky Tour" is conducted from a private 4.5 metre observatory every night from 8.30pm (weather permitting). The tour introduces guests to star clusters, nebulae, galaxies, planets and the moon under dark rural skies with a large 46 centimetre reflecting telescope. The tour takes only maximum six people, allowing a plenty of viewing time for each person.
The Guesthouse has three en suite guest rooms with its own entrance off the veranda. Each room has an air-conditioning, a queen bed and a free Wi-fi. Continental breakfast is available and placed in room on the day before. Optional home-cooked dinner is delivered to room at 7pm. A 24-hour advance booking is required for breakfast and dinner.
Located on the New England Highway in Ballandean, 15 minutes drive from Stanthorpe and 40 minutes from Tenterfield, Twinstar Guesthouse and Observatory is an ideal place to stay on the Granite Belt; a famous wine producing region in Queensland. A number of local wineries and orchards are found within short distances.
