Our Sensational Summer 7!

Our ultimate summer ‘to do’ list takes you from the best summer tipples and picking plump seasonal berries to walks in wild places and fishing in picturesque waterways.

Ready, Set, Summer!

1. Drink in Summer

Let your tastebuds do the travelling! Start by sampling Granite Belt Brewery’s special summer ale before tackling the rest of their craft beer collection; if you prefer the grape to the grain, book a wine trail weekend in the Granite Belt or South Burnett to taste wine with winemakers; for a hit of city style, catch a cool breeze and sip an icy cocktail at Muller Bros Rooftop Bar in Toowoomba.

2. Be cool in the country

From tasting just-baked apple pie at Sutton’s Farm to feeding baby animals, collecting fresh eggs and learning how to ride a horse at Bestbrook Mountain Resort, there’s so much cool fun to be had on our farms!

3. Savour Stanthorpe’s Summer berries

Sample a Bramble Patch made-to-order berry ice cream served in a crunchy waffle cone; or set off on a pick your own adventure at Strawberry Fields.

4. Catch a bite

Cast a line into one of the Western Country’s picturesque waterways for cod, yellowbelly or perch or try your luck at Leslie Dam; Lake Boondooma or Bjelke-Petersen Dam.

5. Talk to the animals

The coolest kids day out around is Darling Downs Zoo - you’ll meet a rare white lion as well as mischievous meercats, cute marmosets, native birds, slippery snakes and cranky crocs!

6. Walk on the wild side

Walk amid the spectacular towering granite boulders at Girraween National Park near Stanthorpe, set up camp amongst the tranquil Bunya Pines in Bunya Mountains National Park, rejuvenate body, mind and soul with the spectacular sights of Queen Mary Falls near Killarney or Crows Nest National Park

7. Have A Go!

Have a go at our annual Hands-On celebration of traditional skills and crafts in February at the Cobb+Co Museum. Over a full weekend you’ll learn the basics of more than 40 traditional skills and crafts including blacksmithing, millinery and wood furniture making.

Ready, Set, Summer!
