Roy Emerson Museum

The Roy Emerson Museum is situated in Blackbutt, high on the Great Divide, north west of Brisbane and adjacent to the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail.

The building was the original Nukku State School where tennis great Roy Emerson completed his primary years.

There are many photos and stories about Roy as well as the life size bronze statue situated at the Nukku Nook precinct. The museum houses a collection of photos and memorabilia from the days of local timber getting, early schooling, farming and the building of the railway.

The former Nukku Siding railway station was originally positioned near Roy Emerson’s farm at Nukku. With the closure of the rail line, the Webber family purchased and relocated it to Yarraman where Mr Webber used it as a work shed for his leather work. In 2016 the Webber family kindly donated the building and, with the help of the Tarong Community Partnership Fund it was relocated to Blackbutt where it is now situated beside the Roy Emerson Museum. The building displays a mural of the Brisbane Valley Rail Line, skillfully painted and donated by local artist, Janet Skinner. It depicts a map of the stations and paintings of various Rail Stations.
