The Western Downs offers Big Sky country where days unfold under vast, wide open skies before the sun sets in vivid splendour and a blanket of stars appear in the clear night. Discover towns rich with pioneering history and friendly local characters. The country landscapes, national parks and freshwater lakes provide natural settings for camping and outdoor adventures. This drive takes you all the way out to Glenmorgan, through Dalby, Condamine and Chinchilla. Allow 3 days and 2 nights to enjoy this nature inspired getaway.

DAY 1: Toowoomba to Meandarra

[APPROX. 282 KM / 3 HRS 12 MINS]

Take the A2 and head west to Oakey then onto Dalby, stopping at Urban Paddock Café for morning tea. Take the State Route 87 to continue west to Tara, The Gums, and onto Glenmorgan. Visit the Heritage Listed Myall Park Botanic Garden at Glenmorgan. Then make your way to Meandarra on State Route 87 for your overnight stay.


DAY 2: Meandarra to Dalby

[APPROX. 215 KM / 2 HRS 23 MINS]

Depart Meandarra via The Gums on the A5 for Condamine and then onto the historic town of Miles. Spend the morning at the Miles Historical Village Museum, then take the A2 to Chinchilla for lunch. Continue on the A2 towards Dalby for your overnight stay and explore the town of Dalby.


DAY 3: Dalby to Toowoomba

[APPROX. 83 KM / 1 HRS 3 MINS]

Drive on State Route 82 to tour the historical Jimbour Homestead before heading back to Toowoomba.
