Words Out West

The award-winning Words Out West was once again a resounding success in March 2023 for readers, writers, and word-lovers alike, right here on the Western Downs. Words Out West: Western Downs Readers & Writers Fest takes a novel approach to storytelling, with a host of events for all ages and interests. The main Festival Day offers local and national storytelling talent featuring a number of well known Australian celebrities. Immerse yourself in our day-long Writers Retreat, with a creative writing masterclass for the adults — and for the first time — a tailored short story workshop for high-schoolers. For a taste of how Words Out West does things differently, order at the bar and pull up a seat at one of the Schooners and Stories sessions offered around the region. With free Author Tour and School Days across the region, there's something on offer for all word-lovers: big and small. Please note the 2024 Program has not as yet been established however keep your eyes out for dates and information in the future.
